Taylor, originally from Riverside, Illinois—right near the Brookfield Zoo—later moved to Florida, where she graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science and Microbiology. Her family relocated to Sanibel Island, Florida, where she became a full-time Floridian. Currently, she is attending the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Growing up, Taylor had various pets ranging from hamsters and fish to rabbits and dogs. Her passion for veterinary medicine was sparked during annual family road trips to Sanibel Island, where she became captivated by the vibrant marine life, including sea birds, dolphins, and sea turtles.
Taylor has gained extensive veterinary experience focusing on wildlife and research. In Costa Rica, she volunteered at wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centers, helping with spay and neuter clinics for stray dogs and cats. During her undergraduate studies, she worked at a local veterinary clinic, developing her small animal care skills. She also completed an externship at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife in Sanibel, Florida, where she worked alongside veterinary students, technicians, and veterinarians to rehabilitate and release diverse wildlife species. At the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Comparative Pathology Department, she worked in the Acute Phase Protein and Avian & Wildlife Laboratory, processing samples from zoos, aquariums, veterinary schools, and general practices. Two research projects she contributed to are currently pending publication. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to veterinary medicine and deepened her passion for helping animals.
In her free time, Taylor explores her passion for food, always seeking new restaurants and dishes to try. She cherishes quality time with her dog, Bear, whether they’re walking or relaxing at home. Staying connected with family and friends across the U.S. is important to her. To stay active, she enjoys hiking, running, and taking long walks. She also loves spending time with friends, whether they’re binge-watching “The Bachelorette” or enjoying a night out. This balance of fitness, food, and friendship keeps her life vibrant and fulfilling!
While veterinary medicine presents its challenges, Taylor’s eagerness to learn and the steadfast support from her family, friends, and Bear keep her motivated. She’s grateful for her incredible support system, including her parents, siblings, and close friends, who encourage her during difficult times. They consistently express their pride in her pursuit of her lifelong dream.
