Hannah is originally from the small town of Demotte, Indiana, and moved to Michigan to pursue her undergraduate degree at Alma College. She graduated in 2021 as both a student and a student-athlete—experiences that shaped her work ethic, resilience, and love for staying active.
After completing her degree, Hannah began working in small-animal general practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was there that she discovered her passion for surgery and medicine, which ultimately inspired her to transition into laboratory animal medicine to broaden her skill set and deepen her understanding of the field. She is now a first-year veterinary student at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Class of 2029, and is excited to see where her journey in veterinary medicine will lead.
Animals have been a meaningful part of Hannah’s life for as long as she can remember. She grew up with two mini Goldendoodles (Bella and Riley), a cat named Magic, and two bunnies, Simon and Sandy. Being surrounded by animals from such a young age naturally encouraged her to pursue hands-on experiences. She has volunteered at several small-animal hospitals throughout West Michigan and has also had the opportunity to shadow in large-animal medicine, including both equine and cattle work. These experiences helped her build a broader understanding of the profession and strengthened her appreciation for the diversity within veterinary medicine.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Hannah is happiest when she is moving; whether working out, running, doing Pilates, playing sports, or simply finding new ways to stay active. She also loves spending time with her friends, family, and loved ones. A self-proclaimed foodie, she enjoys exploring new cuisines, traveling, and connecting with new people and cultures.
Hannah’s biggest motivation is her family and her desire to support them the way they have always supported her. She is also driven by the animals she hopes to help throughout her career. She has a particular interest in animal behavior and the neurology of the brain, and while she currently sees herself working with small companion animals, she also has a growing fascination with equine sports medicine. She is keeping an open mind as she moves through veterinary school, eager to see which path ultimately becomes the right fit.
